How much does it cost to install a water heater?

Accepted Answer

Most instant heater installs run from RM150 to RM350 in labour, while storage and solar units cost more because of the tank mounting and extra plumbing. The final price depends on whether new wiring, an RCD or a longer pipe run is needed. We quote a fixed price after we see the spot, with no charge for the visit if you go ahead.

Do you supply the water heater or do I buy it?

We can do either. We supply common instant, storage and solar models if you want one source for the unit and the install, or we fit a heater you have already bought. If you buy your own, send us the model first so we can confirm the wiring and pressure are right for it.

Does an instant water heater need an RCD?

Accepted Answer

Yes, an instant water heater must run through an RCD because it sits in a wet bathroom and uses a high current. The RCD cuts the power in a fraction of a second if current leaks to earth, which protects you from a shock. If your unit has no RCD or built-in ELCB, we will not sign the job off until one is fitted.

Can I install an instant heater if my water pressure is low?

Accepted Answer

Sometimes, but not always. Many instant heaters need a minimum flow to switch on, and some upper-floor condos and walk-ups on low Air Selangor pressure fall short. We measure your pressure first. If it is too low we can fit a booster pump or recommend a storage heater that does not depend on incoming pressure.

What size storage water heater should I get?

A 30 to 35 litre tank suits a single bathroom and one or two people, while 50 to 90 litres better fits a family or two bathrooms used close together. Going too small means you run out of hot water mid-shower, and too big wastes electricity keeping water hot. We size it to how many people and showers you actually have.

Is a solar water heater worth it in Kuala Lumpur?

Yes for most homes with good roof sun, since KL gets strong daylight most of the year and solar cuts the heating part of your electricity bill. The catch is the higher upfront cost and the need for roof space and a storage tank. Every solar unit we fit includes an electric backup element so you still get hot water on heavy rain days.

Can you replace my old heater with a new one in the same spot?

Accepted Answer

Yes, swapping a like-for-like unit in the same position is the quickest job and usually takes under two hours. We reuse the existing wall fixings and pipework where they are sound, and replace the stopcock, inlet hose or RCD if any of them is old or faulty. Moving the heater to a new wall costs more because of fresh plumbing and cabling.

How soon can you come to install or replace a heater?

We usually fit same day or next day across Sentul, Setapak, Wangsa Maju and the surrounding KL areas, and we run a 24 jam line for a heater that has failed completely. If your only shower has gone cold we treat it as urgent. Tell us the model and your area and we will give you the earliest slot.
